Eetu Koivistoinen to Leave Luleå Hockey After Challenging Season

Eetu Koivistoinen, who has been with Luleå Hockey for two seasons, has decided to leave the team after the current season. The 30-year-old forward has signed a contract with Finnish club Kärpät for the upcoming season. Koivistoinen contributed to Luleå's SM-guld victory last spring but has struggled during this season, managing only 7 points in 25 matches. Luleå Hockey is enduring a difficult period, currently positioned at the bottom of the SHL table, which has sparked widespread speculation about the future of several players on the roster.

Finnish media reported interest in Koivistoinen from various clubs, with Kärpät emerging as a frontrunner. Negotiations between the player and Kärpät have advanced significantly, culminating in the contract agreement. Koivistoinen commented on the rumors surrounding his situation, saying, "There are always rumors out there." In addition to Koivistoinen, teammate Heikki Liedes has also been linked to a move to Kärpät, which recently signed Canadian forward Ben Tardif.
