EdTech Boosts Student Engagement and Attendance at Swedish School

A recent EdTech initiative at Sabzdara girls' school in Bamiyan province has notably improved education quality and student motivation, according to reports. The project introduced tablets, computers, and educational films into classrooms, enabling students like sixth-grader Parwin to engage in practical tasks that enhance learning. Parwin shared, “I now learn so much more in technology classes than before.” Her classmate, Najila, highlighted how interactive exercises help retention, such as identifying body parts with digital applications.

Parents like Barat recognize growing enthusiasm; his daughter prefers educational content over television and uses mobile technology for learning instead of gaming. Barat hopes for broader internet access to help more students, including those who previously dropped out before sixth grade. Teacher Salima Nazari observed increased attendance and noted that technology classes have drawn back previously absent students. Community attitudes have shifted with greater parental support for education.

Nazari emphasized that girls are gaining confidence with digital tools, encouraging their peers to continue schooling at home. This EdTech project showcases technology's role in enriching learning experiences beyond traditional settings, fostering both academic enthusiasm and community reinforcement of education values.
