Djurgården Transfers: August Priske Sold to Birmingham City, Kristian Lien Signed as Replacement

Swedish football club Djurgården has confirmed the sale of their star forward August Priske to English Championship side Birmingham City. The 21-year-old Danish striker, who was the Allsvenskan top scorer in the 2024/25 season with 18 goals in 24 matches, signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Birmingham. The transfer fee is reportedly around 75 million SEK plus bonuses, making it the second largest transfer in Djurgården's history.

Priske scored a total of 24 goals and provided 3 assists in 52 appearances for Djurgården since joining from FC Midtjylland prior to the 2024 season. He expressed excitement about his new challenge, praising Birmingham City's ambitious plans and the positive interactions he had with the club's sporting director and coach. "It feels very fun and exciting to come to Birmingham. A big club currently in an intensive investment phase," Priske said. Reflecting on his departure, he added, "I will miss Djurgården a lot and I have developed very strong feelings for DIF during my time here."

Djurgården's sporting director Bosse Andersson commented on the deal, noting that while there were opportunities for a higher fee, the overall arrangement fits both the club's and Priske's sporting plans.

To fill the void left by Priske, Djurgården has signed 24-year-old Norwegian forward Kristian Lien.
