Traditionally known for its mining, iron production, and forestry industries, Dalarna is now at the forefront of Sweden’s green transition, leveraging collaboration and innovation to foster sustainable development.

Established in 1987, Dalarna Science Park acts as a vital platform that brings together businesses, academia, and the public sector to stimulate innovation and sustainability. The region has earned distinction as the highest-ranking area in Europe for cooperation among small and medium-sized enterprises, demonstrating a strong network essential for innovative industrial growth.

A major highlight is a key employer in electrification within Dalarna, which recently secured Sweden’s largest industrial order valued at 147 billion SEK. This milestone has prompted the company to recruit over 100 new employees every month, underscoring the region’s growing significance as a career hub.

Complementing these developments is the pioneering Cirkulära Industriacceleratorn initiative, the only program in Sweden dedicated to repurposing industrial waste for new business opportunities. This includes innovative projects transforming discarded wool into building and fashion materials and converting coffee husks into soil enhancers. These efforts involve collaboration with leading industrial players committed to creating sustainable solutions for industrial byproducts.
