Barbara Åberg, a Sweden Democrats politician in Skurup, has resigned from all her municipal roles after scrutiny over controversial posts she made on social media. Åberg accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj of being "installed by a gangster" and criticized Europe’s stance on Russia as fueling a "proxy war". She also alleged widespread corruption involving Zelenskyj and claimed Ukraine has been effectively sold to NATO and the United States since 2014. Lars Nyström, the SD group leader in Skurup, stated that Åberg's opinions were her own and did not represent the party's views.

In a separate development, a high-ranking SD politician in Skaraborg was arrested on suspicion of rape following a detention request by a prosecutor in the Skövde district court. The politician, who holds a prominent municipal position, has not publicly commented on the allegations. SD district chairman Tobias Andersson confirmed that the politician will be automatically suspended as the police investigation proceeds.

These incidents highlight growing difficulties for the Sweden Democrats as members face public controversy and criminal investigation, potentially affecting the party's image and local governance.
