In a significant move for pension savers in Sweden, Pensionsmyndigheten has announced that over 86,000 individuals affected by the Allra financial scandal will receive compensation payments. The distribution is part of a wider restitution strategy that totals 143 million kronor related to the Allra case, which stemmed from bribery and disloyalty to investors in 2012. Most recipients will see compensation amounts ranging from 100 to 1,000 kronor, with a median payout of 574 kronor. The highest single payout will be 2,616 kronor.

According to the director general of Pensionsmyndigheten, Anna Pettersson Westerberg, the payment will be automatically credited to the affected individuals' premiepensionskonton, simplifying the process for those owed compensation as they do not need to take any action to receive it. This initiative follows an earlier payout of more than 95 million kronor made in April of last year, bringing the total amount distributed in relation to the scandal to 143 million kronor. Furthermore, the total damages awarded in the Allra case amount to 170 million kronor, plus interest.

Westerberg expressed satisfaction regarding the latest compensation efforts, emphasizing the agency's ongoing commitment to secure additional funds for those impacted by the scandal. The Allra case has been crucial in highlighting the vulnerabilities within the pension system and the necessity of rigorous oversight to protect savers' interests.
