A recent report indicates that nearly 25% of Swedes have avoided scheduling doctor appointments due to the challenges posed by digital health services. This statistic highlights a growing concern among both younger and older populations who find these e-services difficult to navigate. According to Måns Jonasson, an expert from Internetstiftelsen, this situation reflects a significant disconnect between users and the intended functionality of digital services.

The report, titled 'Svenskarna och internet 2025', pinpointed that 13% of respondents believe the applications complicate rather than assist in the booking process, particularly when prior healthcare consultations are needed. Users report difficulties in reaching the appropriate healthcare provider and struggles in articulating their needs effectively through written communication.

In addition to these challenges, the report noted a rising inclination among Swedes to utilize AI tools for health queries, although there are concerns about the accuracy of AI responses and the security of sensitive medical information uploaded to such services. As digital health solutions proliferate, the findings prompt a critical examination of their design and functionality to ensure they are accessible for all users.
