Bonnier News Acquires Ny Teknik Group to Strengthen Tech and Industry Coverage

Bonnier News Business has completed the acquisition of Ny Teknik Group, a major player in Sweden's technology-focused media sector, enhancing its portfolio with full ownership of the group and its publications. Ny Teknik Group, which includes titles such as Ny Teknik, Teknikhistoria, Lag & Avtal, and Arbetarskydd, reported revenues exceeding 90 million SEK and an EBITDA of approximately 19 million SEK in 2025. The company employs about 30 people, including 15 journalists, and is involved in events, conferences, and training through its subsidiary Ny Teknik Education.

Peter Fellman, head of Bonnier News Business and editor-in-chief of Dagens industri, emphasized that the acquisition is aimed at improving Ny Teknik's offerings while bolstering Dagens industri's coverage of both traditional industries and innovative tech and growth companies. Fellman also highlighted Ny Teknik's unique role, serving around 188,000 members of Sveriges Ingenjörer and 13,000 individual subscribers, and stressed that no immediate changes to its print edition are expected, as physical newspapers remain valuable in the digital era.

The acquisition sees CEO and editor-in-chief Thomas Peterssohn and business manager Christer Björkin staying on in their roles to lead the company forward. Peterssohn expressed optimism about the strategic benefits of the acquisition, citing access to greater resources, infrastructure, and scale to enhance Ny Teknik's product and reach. He noted the anticipated growth opportunities under the larger Bonnier News umbrella.

Founded in 1967 by Sveriges Ingenjörer, Ny Teknik is Sweden's largest technology-focused B2B media, providing industry news crucial to engineers and decision-makers. The acquisition is part of Bonnier News Business's strategy to expand niche and trade media, further integrating Ny Teknik with Dagens industri and Breakit to complement economic and technological reporting.

Bonnier News did not disclose the purchase price. The acquisition underlines an investment in strengthening Swedish media coverage of technology, industry, and innovations, positioning Ny Teknik for its upcoming 60th anniversary in 2027 as a leading voice in Swedish tech journalism.
