Albin Ekdal, the 36-year-old defender for Djurgårdens IF, sustained a significant injury during the Svenska Cupen match against FC Järfälla on August 13, 2025. Just 20 minutes into the match, while playing as a center-back, Ekdal suffered a muscle injury to the back of his thigh during a duel with an opposing player, prompting him to signal for medical assistance and forcing his early exit from the match. He was replaced by teammate Miro Teno.
